Kendrick Lamar’s April 14th, 2017 album titled “DAMN.” has officially won a Pulitzer Prize… and made history.
“A work that captures the complexity of African-American life,” the Pulitzer Prize board dubbed the album DAMN., according to The Boston Globe.
The New York Times says that Kendrick Lamar is not only “the first rapper to win the award since the Pulitzers expanded to music in 1943” but that Kendrick is “also the first winner who is not a classical or jazz musician.”
This is truly a historic moment in music, and in culture.
